About OilGas

An independent publication for Norwegian petroleum.

About

The shelf's paper of record, written plainly.

OilGas covers Norwegian oil and gas: what the shelf produces, where it drills, which fields advance, and how the sector changes.

Few industries matter more to a country. Petroleum built modern Norway's prosperity, supplies a large share of Europe's gas, and now carries some of the world's most advanced offshore technology, from subsea production to carbon storage beneath the seabed. It deserves a publication that treats it that seriously, in plain language a reader outside the industry can follow and a reader inside it can trust.

Our reporting starts from primary sources: the Norwegian Offshore Directorate's production releases and fact pages, the Ministry of Energy's decisions, Statistics Norway's accounts, Gassco's transport figures, and the operators' own announcements. Claims are checked against the record before they are published, and figures are printed as their sources released them, with dates.

OilGas is a publication, not an energy company. It produces nothing, holds no licences, and its coverage is not influenced by advertisers or by the companies it writes about. Independence is the whole of the model: a publication the sector can rely on because it answers to its readers and to the record.
